REGULATIONS – Rules of participation in therapy

Before or during consultations, please read the following regulations. Continuation of meetings after the end of the consultation stage means acceptance of the regulations.

All information regarding my competence to conduct psychotherapy can be found in the About me and Certificates tabs.

1. Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy is a process that has its planned course and goal. Predictability and continuity are important in it. At the same time, the therapist adapts to the dynamics of the process and the patient’s needs in terms of the frequency of sessions, if necessary. The process should not be interrupted, as this may result in the ineffectiveness of psychotherapy. However, as a therapist, I am flexible in terms of setting (setting the conditions and rules of psychotherapy) and open to possible negotiation of rates in a situation where the patient’s situation requires it.

2. General principles of psychotherapy

a. Punctuality

b. Payment

Transfer in advance to 5. on the day of each month for the agreed number of sessions in a given month to the given account number, after the end of the consultation stage (3-4 preliminary meetings).

Due to the advance payments for a given month, it is obligatory that the scheduled sessions take place during a given month, they are not transferred to the next month. Exceptions to this rule are possible in the case of a patient’s hospital stays or other serious accidents.

c. Absences

● From my side

They are announced at least a week in advance. In the case of longer absences, I inform you at least one month before. If the session is suddenly canceled because of me, I can propose a session on another date.

● On your part

A session cancelled on the day on which it was supposed to take place is fully paid, unless we manage to arrange a different date, in the same week.

If you do not come to psychotherapy and I do not receive information explaining the situation by the next session, then I treat it as a resignation from therapy. After the first such absence, I issue a receipt, which I send along with a message asking for an explanation of the absence. If there is no response from you to the next session, I treat it as a resignation and you cannot return to therapy for the next six months (unless the agreement concluded individually with you states otherwise).

Please report your absence at least one week in advance. Sessions cancelled in this way are free of charge and can be 8 sessions per year. Sessions cancelled without proper notice are fully paid (except, of course, holidays or holidays). The goal is to maintain the continuity of the process.

d. Stimulants

You cannot come to the sessions under the influence of any drugs. Sessions canceled for this reason are fully paid. This means that you should not abuse alcohol the day before the session or take other drugs that change the picture of reality. This is a rule for people who I know can vent their emotions by taking psychoactive substances.

In the case of active addiction, this should be communicated at the consultation stage. Please remember that I do not work with addicts. Only ok. Half a year of abstinence makes it possible to undertake psychotherapy in my office.

e. Therapeutic relationship

It is a relationship isolated from everyday, normal life. This means that it is limited to the office only. It may be difficult for you, but thanks to this, the therapeutic relationship is safe. It is built by two parties, so it is very important that both feel comfortable and safe.

Open communication and honesty are important. Without them, without talking about what is happening and what hurts, the therapeutic relationship will not bring measurable benefits, as it is supposed to lead to working through difficult issues. The limitation of this relationship is its uniqueness, which means that I cannot conduct parallel processes of people who know each other or are related to each other.

f. Professional secrecy and confidentiality

I am bound by professional secrecy, which I can break only in the event that there is a real threat to the patient’s health or life, or the law is violated or the law requires it. Any notes and your data are for my inspection only. In my notes, as far as I am making them, there is no information that would enable you to be recognized.

Both parties undertake to keep the content of the therapeutic process secret. Content may only be disclosed to persons or institutions authorized to do so, such as doctors, hospitals or supervisors.

g. Authorizing Close Contacts

If there is a real risk of self-harm, danger to life or suicide attempts, please appoint and authorize a person with whom I can contact and provide information about this type of threat. It is then possible to consult a family or a couple to support the system in which such a person and their loved ones are located. The patient’s consent must be given for this type of consultation.

h. Contact with me between sessions

On days when there are no sessions, you can send me emails or write on WhatsApp in extreme situations. If I can, I respond as soon as possible, or it is material to work on in the next session. I also delete such messages regularly, unless they are a continuous basis for therapeutic work.

i. Cooperation with a psychiatrist

If necessary, I can refer the patient for additional tests or suggest contacting a psychiatrist to make a diagnosis and/or start pharmacotherapy. In such a situation, I will ask for permission to contact a doctor.

j. Rate negotiation

I am open to temporary negotiations of the rate, tailored to your current life situation.

3. Consultations

During the consultation, you outline the problem or bothersome symptom. We also study areas that hinder satisfactory functioning. You are building a certain basis in your life story so that I can create your individual image and outline a possible work plan. We also set the rules of work, its frequency and the initial length of the process. We include the agreed rules in the therapeutic contract.

Consultations are not the same as psychotherapy, which is a coherent process with a specific course and an attitude towards change. They can last from a few to even a dozen sessions and do not end with psychotherapy. However, it is important to inform me immediately whether you expect psychotherapy or consultation.

4. Interventions

Interventions are a way of support that is an ad hoc help in crisis situations. It is directive and is based on the search for additional possibilities of support in the system in which the patient functions. Interventions may require more frequent meetings and turn into a process of therapy, which is also suggested.

5. Psychotherapy for sexual disorders:

In the case of problems with sexuality, I work mainly with women and transsexual people, after undergoing the process of gender correction in accordance with the inner experience of oneself.

I do not work with people who are addicted to pornography, with perpetrators of sexual violence and with people suffering from profound sexual disorders such as: disturbed sexual preferences, fetishism, perversions, paraphilias, BDSM, etc. Such difficulties should be reported at the consultation stage.

6. General (payments, camps, group therapy)

The psychotherapist does not provide for refunds for interrupted therapy (payments are made in advance each month). You must have paid sessions on the agreed dates. You can always change the date of the session or, in extreme situations, make up for it in another month.

It is not worth interrupting the therapy, as it makes the process very difficult. Alternatively, you can reduce its frequency for some time. It is good to determine this at the last session of a given month.

The psychotherapist undertakes to organize meetings once every six months in the office in the place where he or she will have the opportunity (probably one weekend or a week in a given city, in Poland or in another country). You should follow Facebook and other social media).

For couples and some patients, there are camps, e.g. meetings every day for 2 weeks, even up to a month, stationary or online. You should inform about it immediately during the registration. Usually it will be 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. 6 days a week.

In the case of group therapy, there is a confidentiality regarding personal details. You can also change the personal data on the group and give it to the therapist. The number of groups is expected to be 8-12 people, meetings once a week or every two weeks, on Fridays from 5 to 8 p.m. with a 20-minute break.

Group therapy assumes several stages — the qualification stage during enrollment (filling in the form, a short conversation), the introductory stage in the form of 1-3 meetings for the group, the opening stage (for the appearance of topics), the diagnostic stage, the therapeutic stage and the final stage with the planned support stage. It can last up to about half a year. It is intended for people who do not have clinical symptoms and are not at risk of suicide. These can be patients guided individually.

Payments in advance by the 12th of the month for the agreed number of sessions in a given month.
