Paulina Kubś, MA
Psychologist, systemic-cultural psychotherapist
Paulina is a graduate of a 5-year master’s degree in Psychology at the Faculty of Philosophy of the Jagiellonian University in Krakow.
Her professional interests include both classical areas of psychology, such as biopsychology, social psychology, evolutionary psychology, biopsychophysiology, psychology of memory and learning, psychology of individual differences, and projective methods, as well as interdisciplinary fields, including health psychology, humanistic psychology, and issues related to unconscious processes, metaphor and cultural records. He is a member of the Polish Psychological Association, the Psychotherapy Section of the Polish Psychological Association and the Polish Society of Somatotherapy.
After years of psychotherapeutic work with people experiencing crises, she created her own method of work – Systemic-Cultural Interventional Psychotherapy.
In her work, she uses extensive knowledge gained during studies, internships and trainings, but also from experience resulting from direct work with patients, observing the cooperation of teams of specialists and her own professional and personal development. It supports people in deep crisis, as well as co-dependent people, helping them to better understand their own experiences, relationships and mechanisms affecting their functioning.
She is particularly interested in issues related to cultural studies and religious studies, psychology of religion and cultural psychology. She is interested in a person functioning in a broad context – not only family, but also environmental, cultural, religious, spiritual and historical. Thanks to her interdisciplinary approach, she tries to look at human difficulties more broadly than just through the prism of symptoms or a single problem.
In his systemic work, he also uses metaphor and symbol, referring to myths, religions and various cultural traditions. This allows her to look not only at the difficulties themselves, but also at their importance and function in the life of a particular person. Such a view is a starting point for her to look for ways to get out of the crisis and build a new way of functioning. It also introduces elements of psychoeducation and crisis intervention.
Her main area of work is trauma psychotherapy and work in crisis situations when the patient requires direct intervention.
She works with trauma victims on a long-term basis, supports single parents and people planning parenthood. She specializes in working with DDA, DDD, co-dependents, dissociative disorders, chronically ill people, anxiety, psychotic, neurotic, personality disorders.
She also works in a typically systemic way (individually, with couples, families, groups), specifically focusing on problems in relationships, communication, self-development, relationship disorders and with people from different cultures, including the Polish diaspora.
He thinks eclecticly, using different paradigms to achieve the expected goal (equivalently and convergently). However, he is not an integrative therapist.
He is constantly improving his qualifications. Recently, she has completed further courses, such as: psychodietetics (she works mainly with anorexia and healthy habits), crisis psychology and crisis intervention, therapeutic games – “The Ground is the Roots”, an introductory course in mentalization. As of today, she trains in the field of therapy for children and adolescents, psychotraumatology, psycho-oncology, art therapy and psychogeriatrics. She is interested in mindfulness and further degrees in courses related to mentalization.
Apart from her professional work, Paulina is interested in broadly understood intuitive art and working with animals after trauma.
