Holistic therapy

Holistic therapy is an approach that treats the patient as a whole. It assumes a close relationship between the mental state and other dimensions of human life, including the physical and existential state and social relationships.

What is the holistic approach?

Holistic therapy is not a strictly defined stream of psychotherapy. Depending on the needs, he uses the tools of various schools, e.g. behavioral and cognitive, humanistic or psychodynamic. The most important thing is a holistic approach – it recognizes each person as an integrated whole. It includes:

  • psyche – emotions, thoughts, beliefs, defense mechanisms,
  • body – physical health, somatic symptoms, pain,
  • relationships – with a partner, family, friends, co-workers,
  • spirituality/existential dimension – the meaning of life, faith, values,
  • life context – material situation, work, cultural environment.

When working with the patient, the therapist pays attention to m.in. signals coming from the body, as well as lifestyle, skills and interests. The therapy is aimed at providing a person with support in building a coherent life and self-development.

Application of holistic therapy

Holistic therapy can be successfully used in various situations. It brings very good results in:

  • emotional disorders, including depression,
  • neurotic disorders,
  • personality disorders,
  • eating disorders,
  • addictions to psychoactive substances and behavioural addictions,
  • DDA and DDD syndromes,
  • relational problems,
  • psychosomatic ailments.

In addition, holistic therapy is a very good proposition for people who are interested in personal development.
